Remembrance Day 2020
|Publishing on behalf of Branch 38 The Royal Canadian Legion St. George's:
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 38 St. George's Remembrance Day parade is unable to take place. A small ceremony will be held at the war memorial, but it will not be open to the public.
To allow residents to pay their respects and to recognize this important day without a mass gathering, the Legion and the Town encourage citizens to observe a moment of silence at your front door.
During these unprecedented times we want to provide an alternate and safe way for people to pay their respects, while also maintaining social distancing and respecting health guidelines. “At 11 a.m. on November 11, we ask that you to step outside the front door of your home and observe two minutes of silence for our veterans, our fallen soldiers and those who continue to serve.”
The Legion are holding their annual poppy campaign at this time and are encouraging residents to wear a poppy and consider decorating your windows and doors with poppies as a safe way to participate in the Remembrance Day at Home event.
Branch 38 St. George's thanks you for your understanding.
